Course

Personal Support Worker (PSW)

Total Program Length: 54 weeks
Includes: Theory, Clinical Skills & Working Practicum

Personal Support Workers provide essential care to people by supporting their physical, emotional and social needs. This training, delivered in both classroom and on-site, provides in-depth knowledge and skills that increase safety, quality of care, and efficacy within home care and care home environments.

  • Students can work through the program from home, without needing to take time off from work.
  • One-on-one tutoring and support is available, or the instructor may initiate contact with the student or their employer to discuss progress through the program.
  • Online learning delivered in chronological segments. Learning is delivered in diverse formats and assessments to ensure understanding (70% passing grade).
  • Once online learning is complete, an in-person lab is scheduled to demonstrate learned skills to on-site instructor.
  • Working practicum. Hours worked within the care facilities will be tracked and reported on.
  • Instructors will work with employers to ensure that students are performing skills in a professional manner, and will assist and assess as needed.
  • When all requirements have been met, and program fees have been paid in full, the student will receive a program certificate stating their qualifications as a Personal Support Worker.

Course

Gap to PSW Program (updates PSW-Entry Level to PSW)

Total Program Length: 15 weeks
Includes: Theory, Clinical Skills & Working Practicum 

Do you already have your Personal Support Worker Entry Level training and want to upgrade to a Personal Support Worker? This training provides the additional skills and understanding for PSW-Entry Level to become PSW.

  • Students can work through the program from home, without needing to take time off from work.
  • One-on-one tutoring and support is available, or the instructor may initiate contact with the student or their employer to discuss progress through the program.
  • Online learning delivered in chronological segments. Learning is delivered in diverse formats, and assessments to ensure understanding (70% passing grade).

Personal Care Aide, Tier 2 (PCA)

Total Program Length: 20 weeks (approximately)
Includes: Theory & In-Person Lab Assessment  
Bilingual: offered in French and English

Personal Care Aide, Tier 2 (PCA) provides assistance to people in their everyday life. This training, delivered online and on-site, provides students with knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, and safe assistance to people receiving home care or living in a care home.

  • Students can work through the program from home, without needing to take time off from work.
  • One-on-one tutoring and support is available, or the instructor may initiate contact with the student or their employer to discuss progress through the program.
  • Once online learning is complete, an in-person lab is scheduled to demonstrate learnt skills to on-site instructor.
  • Upon completion of online learning and lab, the student will receive a certificate stating their qualifications as an Personal Care Aide, Tier 2 (PCA).
